Heat Pump Servicing & Repairs in Dalgety Bay
Annual servicing for air source heat pumps in homes in Dalgety Bay, £210 inc VAT, all makes, whoever installed it. Repairs at a fixed £120 visit. F-Gas certified and heat pump qualified engineers.
What an annual heat pump service covers
£210 inc VAT, all major makes of air source heat pump, whoever installed it.
Refrigerant circuit checks
Pressures and temperatures read across the circuit, and a leak check on the sealed system. F-Gas work, and legally an F-Gas certified engineer's job.
Outdoor unit clean
Fins, fan and coil cleared of leaves, grass and dust. A blocked coil is the most common reason a heat pump stops performing.
Condensate and drainage
Tray, drain and pipework cleared and checked. A frozen condensate on a heat pump causes ice build up and lockouts.
Water side and pressure
System pressure, expansion vessel, pump and magnetic filter checked, and the filter cleaned.
Controls and flow temperatures
Weather compensation, flow temperatures and schedules checked, so it is running at the temperature it was designed for rather than a default.
Written report
What was checked, the readings taken and anything that needs attention, emailed the same day. Keeps your manufacturer warranty valid.
Why a heat pump needs servicing every year
A heat pump runs for far more hours a year than a boiler does, at low output, through Scottish winters. Manufacturers require an annual service to keep the warranty valid, and most of them ask for it to be recorded.
There is a performance reason as well. A heat pump only saves money if it is running efficiently. A dirty coil, a low refrigerant charge, a blocked filter or a flow temperature left too high all push the running cost up quietly, month after month, without the unit ever breaking down. A service finds those.

Heat pump faults we repair
A repair visit is a fixed £120 inc VAT. Parts are quoted before they are fitted.
Not reaching temperature
The house never quite gets warm, or the hot water runs short. Usually a dirty coil, low refrigerant, a flow temperature set wrong or a system that has never been balanced.
Book a repair →Icing up
A little frost is normal and the unit defrosts itself. Sheets of ice on the coil or the base tray are not, and usually mean a drainage or defrost fault.
Book a repair →Noisy outdoor unit
Rattles, humming or a fan that has started to grind. Worth catching early, before a bearing takes the fan out.
Book a repair →Error codes and lockouts
Every make has its own. Send us a photo of the display or the app and we will tell you what it means.
Book a repair →Running cost climbing
Same house, same habits, higher bills. Usually efficiency lost gradually, which a service finds.
Book a repair →Cylinder or hot water faults
Immersion, diverter or cylinder sensor problems, which are as common as heat pump faults themselves.

Qualified for heat pump work
Heat pump servicing is not boiler servicing with a different badge. The refrigerant circuit is sealed F-Gas work, which by law only a certified engineer can touch, and the water side needs someone who understands low temperature heating rather than a boiler at 70 degrees.
We hold F-Gas certification and the BPEC Level 3 heat pump qualification, as well as Gas Safe registration, unvented hot water and the water regulations. That means one visit covers the heat pump, the cylinder and the heating system, rather than three trades.
Home Care for heat pumps
The Home Care Heat Pump plan is £18 a month and includes your annual service, so the warranty stays valid and nothing gets forgotten. Join when you book a service and your first service is half price at £105.
It works the same way as our boiler plans: one monthly payment, the service booked automatically each year, and your records in the customer portal.
Frequently asked questions about heat pump servicing in Dalgety Bay
How much is a heat pump service?
£210 inc VAT for an annual service on an air source heat pump, or included every year on the Home Care Heat Pump plan at £18 a month. Join a plan when you book and the first service is half price at £105.
Which heat pumps do you service?
All major makes of air source heat pump in domestic homes, whether we installed it or not. Tell us the make when you book so we bring the right information.
Do heat pumps need servicing every year?
Yes. Manufacturers require an annual service to keep the warranty valid, and a heat pump runs far more hours a year than a boiler, so the efficiency losses build up faster.
How much is a heat pump repair?
A repair visit is £120 inc VAT, the same as a boiler repair visit. That covers diagnosis and the repair where parts allow, with any parts quoted before they are fitted.
Why has my heat pump stopped heating properly?
Commonly a blocked or dirty outdoor coil, low refrigerant, a dirty filter or flow temperatures set wrong. A service finds all of those. If it has stopped altogether, book a repair visit.
My heat pump is covered in ice. Is that normal?
A light frost that clears is normal, because the unit defrosts itself. Thick ice on the coil or filling the base tray is not, and usually means a drainage or defrost fault that needs looking at.
Do you install heat pumps?
Not at the moment. We service and repair them, and we will tell you honestly if the system you have was undersized or badly commissioned in the first place.
Do you service the hot water cylinder too?
Yes. We are qualified on unvented cylinders, so the cylinder and its controls are part of the same visit rather than another trade.
Are there grants for heat pumps in Scotland?
Home Energy Scotland offers grant and loan funding toward heat pump installation. The scheme changes, so check the current terms on their site rather than relying on a figure quoted elsewhere.
Do you cover all of Dalgety Bay?
Yes. We cover the whole of Dalgety Bay (KY11 postcodes), along with Aberdour, Inverkeithing, Rosyth and Hillend. Enter your postcode when you book online and you will see the slots available.
Do I need to be home for the service?
Someone needs to let us in, because the indoor unit, controls and cylinder are checked as well as the outdoor unit. Make sure we can get round to the outdoor unit easily too.
Homes and heating in Dalgety Bay
Dalgety Bay was built from the 1960s as Scotland's first private new town, on the old Donibristle estate.
Built in phases
Different housebuilders put up the town plot by plot over many years, so neighbouring streets can have quite different layouts and heating systems. We service and repair whatever your house has.
St David's Harbour
The homes around St David's Harbour date from the 1990s, built on the site of the old 1752 coal harbour. We service and repair boilers there of every age.
New homes at Swordfish Drive
New homes on part of the former Donibristle airfield have boilers still inside their manufacturer guarantee, which needs a yearly service by a Gas Safe engineer to stay valid.
