Before you book: a two minute checklist
A few quick checks can save a visit, or tell us what to bring. If you are still unsure, book and we will sort it.
1Check for power
Make sure the boiler has power and the fuse or switch has not tripped. A simple one, but it saves a visit.
2Check the pressure
The gauge should sit around 1 to 1.5 bar when cold. Low pressure stops most boilers running. Top it up once; if it drops again, book a repair.
3Check hot water
If you have hot water but no heating, or the other way round, tell us. It points to where the fault is.
4Check the thermostat
Make sure the thermostat and timer are calling for heat and the batteries are not flat.
5Check the gas
If the hob or gas fire works, the supply is fine. If nothing gas works, contact your supplier first.
6Try one reset
Reset the boiler once. If the fault comes straight back, note the code and send us a photo.
A repair visit at a fixed price
A repair visit is £120 inc VAT, paid when you book. That covers the engineer's time to diagnose the fault and carry out the repair where parts allow. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you the price before it is fitted and let you decide.
We keep afternoon slots free for repairs, so a breakdown booked in the morning is usually seen the same day or the next working day. You get a text when the engineer is on the way.
If the boiler is beyond economical repair, we say so and give you a fixed price for a replacement rather than keep charging for repairs.
What repairs usually cost
Every repair starts with the £120 visit. Most faults are fixed inside that. When a part is needed, the price depends on the make and model, so the figures here are a guide to help you see why some repairs cost more than others, not a quote.
We always quote the exact part before it is fitted, and if the repair does not make sense against the age of the boiler we tell you and price a replacement instead.

Do not use the boiler. Open windows, turn off the gas at the meter if you can, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. Then call us for the repair.
Boiler repair or boiler service?
A repair is for a boiler that has already gone wrong. A service is the planned yearly check that keeps it safe, efficient and under guarantee, and it is the best way to avoid needing a repair in January.
If your boiler is working but has not been serviced in the last 12 months, book a service instead. If it has a fault, book a repair, and the engineer will tell you if a service is due as well.
On the Home Care Boiler and Complete plans, repairs are included with parts and labour and no call-out charges.

My boiler pressure keeps dropping. What does that mean?
Usually a small leak on the system or a fault with the expansion vessel or pressure relief valve. Topping up hides it for a while. A repair visit finds the cause.
Do you carry parts on the van?
Yes, the common parts for the main makes. If a part has to be ordered we tell you the price and the date before it is fitted.
Are repairs included in Home Care?
On the Home Care Boiler and Complete plans, yes, with parts and labour and no call-out charges. The Home Care Service plan covers the annual service only. Pre-existing faults are excluded, so a plan needs to be in place before the fault.
What if my boiler cannot be repaired?
We tell you plainly and give you a fixed price for a replacement. On the 10+ Home Care plans there is a £300 contribution toward a new boiler if yours is beyond economical repair.

If you can smell gas, do not use the boiler, open windows and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. Anything else, book a repair visit and we will get to you as quickly as we can.
